He joined the faculty of Institute of Chemistry in 1995, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Supported by Berkeley Scholar Program, he visited Department of Chemistry, University of California at Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory for 2002 and 2003. Prior to joining the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology of China in 2004, he was the Director of the Laboratory for Molecular Nanostructures and Nanotechnology at the Institute of Chemistry. From 1994 to 1995, he was a professor in Department of Physics, Central China Normal University.

He received B. Sc. from University of Science and Technology of China and Ph. D in Physics from University of Virginia in 1986 and 1992, respectively. He is an adjunct Professor of Department of Chemistry of Peking University, Jilin University, Central China Normal University.

Honors and Awards:
Professor Wang received the Outstanding Young Investigator Award of National Science Foundation of China (1998), Award for Youth Excellence, Chinese Chemical Society (1998), Award for Outstanding Young Scientist, Chinese Academy of Sciences (1999).

Research Interests:
Professor Wang Chen and his colleagues have worked on the applications of scanning probe microscopy in surface characterizations and fabrications. His recent studies revealed several novel effects in the molecular self-assembling. He is also engaged in the investigation of molecular devices based on principles of molecular self-assembling. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in international journals.
