Tonino Greco Tonino Greco
Dipl.-Chem., Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP
Germany

Tonino Greco received his B. Sc. at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg in 2003, before he moved to the Humboldt-University Berlin (HU). During his studies he worked as student trainee at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research (IAP) since January 2005. He was engaged in the synthesis of new polymeric materials, optically-active nanocomposites, and piezoelectric materials. T. Greco wrote his diploma thesis in cooperation with the Faunhofer IAP at the HU Berlin in the working group of Structure and Reactivity of Clusters around Prof. K. Rademann. Since 2007, T. Greco is working as Ph. D. student at the Fraunhofer IAP in the group Functional Materials and Devices and the Technical University of Dresden (TU) in the group Nanocomposites and Hybrid Materials of Prof. S. Kaskel. His doctoral work in the junior trainee group is promoted by the BMELV-programm (Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection) “Renewable Resources”. The key aspects of his research are the development of novel nanocomposites based on polysaccharides, the synthesis of optically-active semiconductor nanoparticles, and the study of surface-plasmon resonance effects on quantum dots as well as their interaction in ferroelectric polymers.
