Thomas Liljenberg
Manager, ABB Corporate Research

Thomas Liljenberg is Manager of “Insulation and Materials Technologies” at ABB Corporate Research in Västerås, Sweden. He is heading the development towards improved electrical insulation materials and products as well as for new electrical contact material. He is member of the top management team of ABB Corporate Research. Liljenberg is also acting in several committees such as chairman of the R&D Center Board “FunMat” at University of Linköping, Sweden and STECO chairman in two Swedish governmental agencies for R&D funding in areas of electrotechnology (ELFORSK) and materials (SSF). He is also an Advisory Board member at the Rensselaer Nanotechnology Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, US. Liljenberg was responsible to build up ABB: s strategic initiative in Nanotechnology acting as the Program Manager for five years.
Earlier in his career Liljenberg was a specialist in sensor development and Pulp and Paper Technology at ABB Corporate Research, Västerås, Sweden and project manager at the Swedish Pulp and Paper Research Institute (STFI), Stockholm, Sweden.
He holds a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering at the Lund Institute of Technology in Lund, Sweden, with focus on Biotechnology.
