Guggi Kofod Guggi Kofod
Post Doc. Group Leader, University of Potsdam
Germany

G. Kofod received his B.Sc. in Chemistry and Physics and M.Sc. in Physics from Copenhagen University, Denmark in 1998. Then he worked on dielectric elastomer actuators under the supervision of P. Sommer-Larsen at Risø National Laboratory Denmark, to obtain the Ph.D. degree in 2001 from the Danish Technical University. During this time he visited SRI International, CA, USA, for a 5 month visit, where he worked together with R. Kornbluh. After the Ph.D. he worked for one year at the Danish Institute of Fundamental Metrology, and two years as an Assistant Professor at Ateneo de Manila University, the Phillipines. Mid 2005 he joined the group of Prof. R. Gerhard in Potsdam, Germany, funded from Jan. 2006 by a Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Commission. In 2006 he received a five year NanoFutur Post Doc. Group Leader project grant (project title: “KompAkt”) from the German Ministry of Education and Research, to establish and head a group that will develop new materials for dielectric elastomer actuators, based on a nano-composite approach.
