Dr. Bjerne S. Clausen is since the beginning of 2006 Director of Research and Development Division at Haldor Topsoe, a major catalysis company supplying catalysts and process design worldwide for oil refineries, chemical plants and the energy sector. He received his M.Sc. degree in Physics from Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 1976 and his Ph.D. in Materials Science in 1980 also from DTU.
After a postdoc stay at University of Wisconsin, Madison, he joined Haldor Topsoe where he has worked mainly with catalyst characterization and development of novel in situ tools. This work has led to a much improved fundamental understanding of heterogeneous catalysts in their working state.
