Ramunas Valiokas
Ramunas Valiokas is head of the newly established Division of Functional Nanomaterials at the Institute of Physics, Vilnius, Lithuania. He received his diploma in physics in 1993 and MSc in biophysics in 1996 from Vilnius University. He worked in the area of self-assembled monolayers under supervision of Prof. Bo Liedberg and obtained his PhD from Linköping university, Sweden, in 2001. He stayed at Linköping university as a visiting assistant professor in biomimetic materials science for another two years and moved to Frankfurt am Main in 2003. He undertook a post doc at Frankfurt University within the Centre for Membrane Proteomics where he worked with protein arrays and supported lipid membranes till the end of 2004. He was invited by the Institute of Physics to establish a new laboratory dedicated to soft and scanning probe nanofabrication. His current research interests include controlled self-assembly of molecular nanostructures on surfaces, cell membrane mimetics, development of protein nanoarrays and hybrid materials.NTNE 2007
