Visitor Information

Copenhagen and the Øresund region

Copenhagen is an ideal place to host the Nanotech Northern Europe 2008 event as it lies in the Øresund region, which is one of the leading regions of nanotechnology in Northern Europe. The Øresund region is made up of the Danish Capital region Copenhagen and Sweden's southernmost region Skåne. This region has a very solid base of nanotechnology research and development, with research carried out at three universities: Lund University – the Nanometre Structure Consortium, University of Copenhagen – Nano-Science Centre, Technical University of Denmark – NanoDTU.

According to the Nano Øresund report - Øresund - the Nordic Nanohub (June 2006), which compares the three regions in the Nordic countries, with significant activity in the nanotechnology field: the Øresund region, the Stockholm region and the Helsinki region, the Øresund region is the leading region within nanotechnological research.
In the report, output of research has been studied, i.e. publication of research results. In this area, Øresund is at the top with the highest number of scientific reports. Even in terms of the impact of research, Øresund is at the top; the number of citations per article is largest in Øresund.
