
Nanotechnology and the food industry
The food theme will explore the ways in which nanotechnology is helping the food industry to enhance the nutritional value of food, improve quality and safety, and increase cost-effectiveness of production.
Aspects to be covered will include food processing and production, including techniques for increasing bioavailability of nutrients, or modifying flavour and texture properties.
Developments in food packaging will also be covered. These range from anti-bacterial or anti-microbial packaging materials, sensors to detect pathogens or spoiling, and new materials to increase packaging efficiency.
